Chrome tab Freezing up while adding security key

Observed/problematic behavior

I tried adding a security key and chrome started getting real choppy. I was able to make it to the backup codes when hangers specific chrome tab froze up completely preventing me from coping the codes. Since Chrome froze, I couldn't confirm that I copied the backup codes. My account does not reflect that the key was added yet when I try to add it again, it asks for the backup code.

Expected behavior

Expected behavior was for chrome not to freeze, Also, since I didn't confirm that I copied the backup codes I had hoped that the adding a key process would have been aborted.

Steps to reproduce

Go through the add a security key process.

Other chrome tabs were still functional but not hangers tab. I had to force close it. Also, due to me being exhausted from work, I didn't think to snippet the backup codes. Now my account is stuck in a weird state where it doesn't show the key but asks for the backup code. Is there any way to recover my account?

Update. I took another look at my account today and when I attempted to log in, it did not ask for the backup code. I then reattempted to add my security keys and it did not ask for the backup codes their either.

Not sure how it unbugged. Per my original post it should not have been asking for the backup codes as the add security key process hadn't completed.
