Extension making large number of requests for github.internal.atlassian.com

Describe the bug
The extension makes frequent attempts to connect to github.internal.atlassian.com.
This is not a publicly visible host and the error rates cause high event rates on commercial DLP software.

Steps to reproduce the behavior:
Run the VSCode extension

Expected behavior
The extension should check for a DNS record associated with github.internal.atlassian.com and/or make the request only once instead of many times.

The alert for this came from our security team. I've enabled logging locally in an attempt to view the requests from within the Atlassian Output console.
