If you look at our sample models, most of them are created from ifc4 -> usda -> json -> ... https://github.com/buildingSMART/IFC5-development/tree/main/src/utils/python So this is definitely an option, although the structure of usda in this process has been fairly specific. Compatibility with USD has been a foremost concern. Are you interested in contributing to this?
