Option to dynamically change icon?

A little bit out of the ordinary case. In diabetic controls you have something called a trend (represented by arrows)
I want to dynamically change the card's icon based on this trend. For example I tried:
icon: {{ state_attr('sensor.blood_sugar', 'icon') }}

In the state of this sensor the icon exists so that's not the error. The exact error also is:

Configuration error
Error in parsing YAML: missed comma between flow collection entries (line: 10, column: 49)

No sense to try ways which are not described in Docs.
The card does not support jinja templates.
A possible way could be using card-mod (both for icon & icon color):
