Feature request

EDIT: Apparently this doe work in Windows, it just took a VERY long time to finally sync through. So the issue described below is just for macOS.

I run a small home NAS using Unraid and run Nextcloud on that to allow syncing of various project files between my various PCs in the home (primary use case) and with my laptop when traveling. This system is not exposed externally, and to access it when traveling I use a VPN.

I have no need of a domain name making it a waste of money, nor a proper certificate, and setting all that up is really beyond my skill set. I'm sure I could figure it out given time, but it would be nice if Nextcloud supported the "simple" set up for those who don't need more.

I would like to utilize VFS for more efficient use of file space, but the client does not appear to function properly when VFS is enabled.

Which Nextcloud Version are you currently using: (see administration page)
32.0.5

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe.
Attempting to use VFS with this server setup currently results in hung Finder on macOS. Normal (non-VFS) syncs work perfectly.

Describe the solution you'd like
I would like to be able to use the VFS feature set on macOS when connected to a server via IP address that uses a self signed certificate

Describe alternatives you've considered
