Windows 11 support

For binaries build on the windows 11 CI, they seem to work fine on my windows 10 machine going through the standard installation instructions for rolling:

I do see that the binaries are built 3 months ago, so I'll start a new build and try again, but so far so good!

FYI, it is still possible to get an ISO for windows 10 install here. Now I have a small, very slow, laptop with one but maybe at one point it would be nice to have just a small pc with it on.

I've downloaded an ISO and I'll save it somewhere.

I can now also confirm that the build binaries of yesterday on windows 11 works on windows 10. Let's consider this done

I found some information about the MVCS 2022 build!

The biggest bulk of the warnings are from cyclone dds, in particular the enum type mismatch (warning C5286 C5287). This has been noted by the cyclonedds team themselves(see the ifstatement here), however this change was done May last year, so way after the latest release 0.10.05 that ROS2 rolling uses. So either we get the latest development from cyclone dds (master), but that will introduce a whole set of instabilities (and that we forget to set the version for any ros distros). Let's perhaps ask the maintainers when they are planning to have a next release.

Alright. A list of tests I've run with the mvcs branch last week:

• test_ci_windows 689 - colcon build with wd5286 and wd5287 suppressed - failed with error C2220 with warning C4530 (treated as error)
• test_ci_windows 690 - cyclone-dds set to master - failed with error MSB3073 and warning C5105
• test_ci_windows_2025 3- just the main CI branch but to try out if warnings persist in a standard run in windows 11 sdk - Warning C5286 C5287 persists

Next up is to see if I can make a simple cmake exception for to the current cyclone_dds rmw release to supress the warning C5286/C5287

Some success ont the MSVC build!

In cyclone dds branch I fixed the root problem, but I had to replace the enums with defines, so I'm not sure if this is something the eclipse team would like to merge. Another option would be to suppress the warning through cmake. When I tried to supress this from colcon cmake arguments, the build failed, but adding all of the suppressions at each cmake file where the enum comparison happened was a whack-a-mole hunted, as I got different warnings still popping up on the CI then on my local build. So still some work to get this merged into the releases/0.10.x branch of cyclonedds
