πŸ› Troubleshooting

Common Issues

Model Download Failures

Problem: Models fail to download automatically.

Solution:

# Manual download
wget https://github.com/opencv/opencv_3rdparty/raw/dnn_samples_face_detector_20170830/opencv_face_detector_uint8.pb -P models/
wget https://github.com/opencv/opencv_3rdparty/raw/dnn_samples_face_detector_20170830/opencv_face_detector.pbtxt -P models/

Camera Access Issues

Problem: Cannot access webcam.

Solutions:

# Check camera permissions (Linux)
sudo usermod -a -G video $USER

# List available cameras
v4l2-ctl --list-devices

# Test camera access
python -c "import cv2; print(cv2.VideoCapture(0).isOpened())"

Low FPS Performance

Problem: Detection is running slowly.

Solutions:

# Reduce resolution
config.CAMERA_WIDTH = 320
config.CAMERA_HEIGHT = 240

# Use faster detector
config.DETECTION_MODE = "haar"

# Enable GPU acceleration
config.ENABLE_GPU = True

# Skip frames
config.PROCESS_EVERY_N_FRAMES = 2

Memory Issues

Problem: High memory usage or out of memory errors.

Solutions:

# Limit detections
config.MAX_DETECTIONS = 10

# Disable caching
config.ENABLE_CACHING = False

# Process smaller images
config.MAX_IMAGE_SIZE = (640, 480)

Debug Mode

# Enable debug logging
export FACE_DETECT_LOG_LEVEL=DEBUG
python main.py

# Verbose output
python main.py --verbose --debug

Performance Profiling

import cProfile
import pstats

def profile_detection():
    pr = cProfile.Profile()
    pr.enable()

    # Run detection
    system.detect_faces(frame)

    pr.disable()
    stats = pstats.Stats(pr)
    stats.sort_stats('cumulative')
    stats.print_stats(10)
