LDPartEditor 1.8.97

07 Dec 13:13

Choose a tag to compare

imgduke2

Changes:
With the release of 1.8.97 you are able to...

  • ...use increments from the snapping configuration on the "vertex data" window.
  • ...use new shortcut keys for "Hide" and "Show" (Alt+H, Alt+S).
  • ...benefit from the fact that the "Save As..." button of PrimGen2 doesn't close the window, so that you can easily generate a family of similar primitives.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. "Merge to Nearest Vertex" merged a vertex to the origin (0|0|0) if no nearest vertex was found.
  2. It was impossible to use translation and scaling for type 1 lines when the file was not found.
  3. The duplicate check did not handle missing zeros.

Installation

Windows

  1. Download and run LDPartEditor-1.8.97.msi
  2. Start LDPartEditor from the start menu

Linux

  1. Download and install ldparteditor_1.8.97-1_amd64.deb
  2. Start LDPartEditor from the menu or via launcher

Mac OS X

  1. Download and extract LDPartEditor_mac_x64.zip
  2. Mount LDPartEditor-1.8.97.dmg
  3. Drag LDPartEditor.app to the Applications folder
  4. Copy ldparteditor.sh to your home folder
    4a. Open a Terminal.app and run ./ldparteditor.sh
    4b. Or open a Terminal.app and run /Applications/LDPartEditor.app/Contents/MacOS/LDPartEditor

When you install LDPE on Windows you will find your LDPE configuration files under
drive\Users\username\AppData\Roaming\LDPartEditor.

LDPE is a 3D CAD application: The overall system requirements are higher. While I recommend to use a powerful 64-bit multicore system, it could be possible, to run LDPE on older machines as well.

System Requirements:

Minimum System Requirements:

  • OpenGL 2.1 compatible Graphics Card
  • Operating System (64-bit): Windows [7 or newer], Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor e.g. Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon II (>2.0Ghz)
  • RAM: 4GB
  • Video-Memory: 1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 150 MB

Recommended Requirements:

  • Operating System (64bit): Windows 7,8,10,11, Linux [e.g. Ubuntu Linux >=14.4], Mac OS X [>=10.6]
  • OpenGL 3.3 compatible Graphics Card
  • CPU: Multicore-Processor with 4 cores (or more)
  • RAM: >4 GB
  • Video-Memory: >1 GB
  • Free Disk Space: 500 MB
  • For a faster start, the LDraw™ library should be installed on a SSD.

PS: I am still busy with the creation of the manual, so you "have to experiment" with my (complex) software product until you've got the manual.

LDPartEditor 1.8.96

28 Sep 11:24

imgduke2

Changes:
With the release of 1.8.96 you are able to...

  • ...use a new random colour mode at subfile level, just click the random colour mode button again (it is also the new default for the PartReview tool).
  • ...see a hint if the header description misses a tilde "~" on subparts.
  • ...use a quick-fix option to adjust the name from the header based on the part type.
  • ...(not able to choose) Physical_Colour anymore. It was removed as a part type qualifier (deprecated since 2019).

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. The hint for the part type mismatch was not correct for normal primitives.
  2. The quick-fix option for the part type mismatch did not detect "...s01.dat" names as a subfile.
  3. "Create a subpart" did not default to the subpart type or offered a choice when no type can be determined from the target path.
  4. PrimGen2's "Save As..." button modified the file header.
  5. [Linux] Automatic calculation of the viewport scale factor did not work and needs to be disabled.

Installation

Windows

  1. Download and run LDPartEditor-1.8.96.msi
  2. Start LDPartEditor from the start menu

Linux

  1. Download and install ldparteditor_1.8.96-1_amd64.deb

  • ...use the new MATERIAL FABRIC colours.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. The keyboard shortcut for showing the "Add comment / meta data" dialog did not work anymore.

Changes:
With the release of 1.8.92 you are able to...

  • ...see a hint about wrong colours for lines and condlines or other non-line objects with colour 24.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. Warnings on BFC meta commands deactivated the meta command on the affecting line (e.g. a "0 BFC CERTIFY CW" on line 7).
  2. [OpenGL 2.0] The LDraw Standard Render Mode (with TEXMAP) did not work on Intel Arc dGPUs.

Installation

imgduke2

Changes:
With the release of 1.8.91 you are able to...

  • ...benefit from the fact that Rectifier "does not convert bordered rhombuses into rect primitives" by default.
  • ...customise if Rectifier "does convert bordered rhombuses into rect primitives" by default.
  • ...choose if Rectifier creates rect primitives with a shear or non-trivial rotation matrix.
  • ...see a warning if the file is BFC CW certified instead of CCW.
  • ...see a hint for "freezing the selection" when adding new objects.
  • ...use the old sphere mesh for CSG operations, too (CSG_ELLIPSOID2).
  • ...use a "Concave/Convex Heatmap" mode which visualises convexity between surfaces (type 3 and 4, double-click on heatmap button).
  • ...see the !PREVIEW meta with syntax highlighting.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. The selection filter logic was not consistent.
  2. [OpenGL 3.3] LDPE didn't switch to "special condline mode" when the user tried to add a condline.

LDPartEditor 1.8.90

07 Dec 11:44

imgduke2

Changes:
With the release of 1.8.90 you are able to...

  • ...drag and drop Windows file shortcuts to LDPE to open the linked *.dat file.
  • ...reference subfiles by a full path (without having double spaces in the path).
  • ...have a quad "auto-created" when you move one vertex enough to allow a flat quad (during "Coplanarity Heatmap" mode in the 3D editor).
  • ...benefit from the fact that txt2dat writes the used font setting to the file.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. Lower/upper case differences between the filename in the 3D editor and in the text editor tab.
  2. High-quality edges (type 2 and 5) were not displayed with OpenGL 3.3 on some graphic cards.

LDPartEditor 1.8.89

imgduke2

Changes:
With the release of 1.8.89 the following critical issues are fixed:

  1. Descriptions containing a hashtag # are modified by unrelated quick fixes.
  2. The movement type of the manipulator changes if, during the move, the mouse gets close enough to a plane move square.
  3. The CSG tree does not switch back to a higher quality if the manipulator was moved and nothing CSG releated was selected.
  4. The MacOS X ARM installer package was still indicating a 1.8.80 version, but the contents were newer.

Installation

imgduke2

Changes:
With the release of 1.8.88 you are able to...

  • ...double click on a text editor error/warning/hint to also select the object in the 3D editor.

The following critical issues are fixed:

  1. Primitive substitution on subfiles from PartReview causes subfiles to be "empty".
  2. "Rings and Cones" uses old deprecated "rin" and "ri" ring primitives.
  3. The context menu entries on the error/warning/hint area are always enabled.
  4. After loading a part using the part review tool, the 3D view properly shows the part asked for, but the text window generally shows a subpart of it, presumably the last loaded one.

Installation

Windows
